WAIT LIST FOR
NCRD ANNUAL TRIP TO THE CHANNEL ISLANDS - SAN MIGUEL AND OTHER NORTHERN ISLANDS

When: Aug 24 - Aug 26
Where: Northern Channel Islands
Cost: $525
Trip Leader: Brad Carter

Close to home, yet remote and wild

This summer, NCRD has arranged to charter the boat Vision for an affordable and convenient 3-day dive trip to the Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary.

Please join us for a chance to visit the northern Channel Islands including San Miguel, Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz and Anacapa Islands -- all for the amazing low price of $525.00.

We depart from Santa Barbara Harbor, which is only 350 miles south of San Francisco -- an easy and relatively inexpensive 6-hour drive from San Francisco, especially for carpoolers. And because this 3-day charter begins on a Sunday, you can minimize time off work by driving down Saturday afternoon and driving home Tuesday after the boat returns to harbor around 5 p.m.

The price of this trip includes a hot breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert as well as snacks, fresh fruit, cookies, candy, hot and cold drinks throughout each day. Tank refills are free. Truth Aquatics is currently installing Nitrox filling stations on all their boats. There will be an extra charge for Nitrox, but that cost is unknown at this time. The only other costs not included are gratuity, which is not required but sincerely appreciated, and equipment rental.

Renowned California diving destination

This year’s trip will begin at San Miguel Island, which was very popular with divers on last year’s NCRD Channel Islands trip. San Miguel Island is a remote and wild place. Its waters are colder than the other islands and have a lushness of life not normally found in the other islands. Five different species of seals and sea lions inhabit this area. Last year, many of our divers had up-close underwater experiences with them. Last year’s trip ended with San Miguel, but this year we will begin with it. We will depart Santa Barbara Harbor around midnight and arrive at San Miguel Island at sunrise. That means we should be able to get in five dives that first day. After a day, or maybe two days at San Miguel, we will move eastward to the waters around Santa Rosa and Santa Cruz Islands, possibly ending at Anacapa on the last day of our three-day cruise.

Full-charter = full control

We need 25 divers to in order to secure a full-charter of Vision. With as few as 15 divers, we can secure a half charter of Vision, but we would have no control over the non-NCRD divers on board. In addition, the management of Truth Aquatics would have the option to force the trip to a different destination, based on their need to sell additional tickets. So let's get 25 LGBT divers and friends together and do this right!
